Just me and my camera

What is the difference between a photographer and someone who takes photographs?  Is there a difference?

Am I “a photographer”?  Photography is a hobby that I stumbled onto quite by accident when I "borrowed" a film SLR on a holiday several years ago.  I quickly treated myself to a digital camera, simply because I was spending a fortune on film.  I don't believe that digital is better by any means, though.  It's just more convenient for me.

I am completely self-taught – mostly through my own mistakes! – and have tried to develop my own style, both adhering to and ignoring the rules of photography.

I certainly get a thrill from being able to capture that unique moment that would otherwise be just a memory, and believe that photos should be seen and enjoyed, not hidden away in a cupboard or on a computer disk.

Does all that make me a photographer?  I don’t know.  I’m just me, and I love taking photos.

If you are interested in purchasing any of the photos on this site please contact me for prices and other options.  A percentage of all sales will be donated to the charity Mind.

Thank you for looking!
